Birthday Purr-Puss

I purchased an amazing collection of vintage birthday cards a few weekends ago at an antique mall near Chicago, and here are just a few highlights that I edited together, plus a bit of time cleaning up since some of them weren't exactly in the greatest condition. Still, superb 50's, 60's, and 70's artwork and colors, typography and textures, and just all round cute kid (and grandma!) fun-- enjoy! :)

Daaamn, they are all so good! What a haul! That sixties psychedelic "some girls do" card is amazing (!), but I'm a little surprised at how much I love the "fair weather friend" card--which doesn't look like anything I've ever seen before. I mean the character is kind of familiar from textbook illustration styles, but the plants, and especially the interior of the card, is really outsider and interesting. That is some straight-up creativity happening right there, like someone was channeling the work of their own kids. Aces!

These were just a few glued in a jam packed 50 page memories album that contained about 4 cards per page. So many good ones, I'll drag em out occasionally and post more because there were so many amazing ones. I'm always partial to the cute girls and funny animals-- and of course anything with my hillbilly heritage captured 100% accurate scores big, haha. Thanks for the comments :)
