T.V. Nurse Section

The last 9 pages of Archie's Mad House #35 (1964) takes some hilarious pokes at the incredibly popular trend of tv medical shows of the time, as well as at the rabid fans who went seriously deliriously overboard in their obsessions with the genre. Typical fun art and goofball writing, the first scan below features more of the fabulously unique art by the unknown artist of our last post.

The artist in the one pager has a great, advertising look to him/her. I'd like to see more of that!

Obvious the second artist was told to ape DeCarlo, but he has some really interesting ticks that set him apart (the Ben Bones character, for one.) Of course, I'm so bad at artist spotting that I could be completely off-base here! How many people did Archie have one staff working in the house style?

Man, we really gotta find out who that first guy was. Everything I've seen so far is solid gold. It's really just aces cartooning. He almost looks more like a Hanna Barbera art director than an ad guy to me.

Did you see the previous post, Brian? Same artist I think.

I messaged Craig about it but he hasn't replied back yet, I'm sure he knows. I also just noticed he published the Anna Steeza segment in his Mad House hardcover collection-- I love that stuff!

This is fab!! I love the panel where she's watching 3 TVs at once! And the Pin-ups of operations on her wall! Hilarious!

My kid does this, he'll have cartoons blarring on the main tv, and sitting there playing Minecraft on his iPad while he's listening to music on his iPod with one ear bud in... join the age of over stimulating devices!

Haha, for sure... maybe Dad's just happy she's not into those long hair rock 'n rollers from England!

Well, unfortunately Craig does not have the answer to our artist question, I'll keep digging around. Thanks for the comments!
