Rexall '70 (Advertising)

It's interesting to me that the more popular posts around here at AEET seem to be these nifty old illustrated Rexall drugstore ads scanned from their yearly Family Almanac and Moon Books (see our previous posts in the archive by using the search engine at the top left.) I'm guessing these take you back in time the same way they do to me, and I understand perfectly why so many of you find this blog on google searches, as well as shared around the web at places like Pinterest and so on. Rexall continues to have the power. So come on, rub yourself down with some Transcenda, then just a dab or two of Shari behind the ear! Gents, better pop a couple Super Plenamins tablets before someone steals your girl! And don't forget to pre-order your copy of the Almanac for next year too by using the handy coupon-- or wait, no need-- because actually our next post is MORE Rexall ads from the '71 issue! See ya in a few...

Super7 ALIEN ReAction Figures

At San Diego Comic Con 2012 last year, the Super7 booth had some totally awesome Alien action figure proto types on display-- see, apparently in '79 these toys were developed but never actually produced-- until now! So this year at San Diego Comic Con 2013, they had the finished toys on display and available for pre-order, along with a nifty set of "fast food" style collector glasses, as well as a killer Alien tee shirt (that I quickly purchased and wore throughout most of my SDCC visit last weekend.) Below are scans of the entire Alien ReAction booklet handed out at the Super7 convention booth, dig how cool these old school style figures are-- and now you can pit your Star Wars villain figures against a REAL Alien terror!

Stix, Baer, & Fuller Xmas Toy Catalog (1960) PART TWO

More highlights from the Stix, Baer, and Fuller 1960 toy catalog (see previous post HERE for more details), as we continue our Xmas in July celebration-- ummm, it's not really so much a celebration about xmas, but more a celebration about cool toys which of course require absolutely no special holiday. I'll take the Cape Canaveral Play Set, the T28-4 Rocket Launching Station, the T35-9 Astro Base (I'm definitely in space man mode this year!), and the Fast Draw Cowboy Timer (for my inner cowboy.) And man, I'd love to hear that band of wizard monkeys rockin out together, or find out what that girl is doing to piss off that kid at the Super Duper Market-- yep, junior is certainly getting more life lessons than he initially bargained for! Hope everyone enjoyed this time machine look back at this great old toy catalog. A bit more xmas fun up next too-- you better be good for goodness sake!

Stix, Baer, & Fuller Xmas Toy Catalog (1960) PART ONE

Stix, Baer & Fuller was a department store chain located here in STL MO that operated from 1892 until they finally went under in 1984. I have fond memories of going to the one in South County mall during my childhood, and especially remember their amazing toy department! Today I have the first in a two-part post featuring highlights from their 1960 xmas toy catalog that is seriously jam packed with outstanding kid stuff, not to mention dazzling store mascot Mr. Wish "painting an exciting scene of surprises shiny and new!" Hey, I'll take the totally off-model Quick Draw McGraw and Huckleberry Hound stuffed characters, as well as the Screwball board game, Nudnik Stationary set, and Toy Tote Bag! I love the Marybel doll who comes with a set of crutches and casts for her poor lil busted limbs-- aw! PART TWO coming up next, and yeah it's still Xmas in July here at AEET, for a few more posts anyway!
