'C' is for Christmas

Here's the last of the classic 50's and 60's xmas art for 2010 from my greeting card collection, apologies for not actually getting it up before the turn of the New Year, but continuing health issues and a painful day spent at the hospital brought on this unforseen delay (so I went ahead and cheated and set the publish date back a day!) I also want to take a second here and thank everyone who has become a friend to this blog... I know it's alot different than THOIA and not everyones cup o'tea, but if you really do like retro art and vintage pop culture fun in general, then you will surely find something to like here occasionally. See ya in 2011!

Xmas Ain't Over Yet...

Thought you'd seen the last of the vintage xmas cards this year, eh? The truth is I have TONS, but of course I can't show them all, after all, what will I post next year? So here's a quick handful of favorites from my collection: cute kittens, cozy couples, fuzzy reindeer, and just overall grand design in color, typography, textures and illustration. Hope everyone had a great holiday!

A Sackload of Santa (Part Two)

And now the exciting conclusion of "A Sackload of Santa" aka: more vintage Kris Kringle card art from my personal collection of 1950's and 1960's xmas cards...

Flash forward to the 90's for a card I got from SOUNDGARDEN!

A Sackload of Santa (Part One)

We're showcasing vintage xmas card art from the 50's and 60's this month with the first in a two-part post featuring our favourite jolly old theme himself-- Santa Claus! I love the variety of styles and depictions of St. Nick presented here from this time era: the swinger, the skater, the dwarf, the juggler, the glasses wearing direction seeker, etc. Part Two is coming up later this week, and if you missed our vintage snowman card art post from last week please be sure to check it out HERE!

Hot Wheels: International Collector's Catalog '68

Continuing the theme this month of "All I Wanted For Xmas..." this collector's catalog of Mattel's amazing YEAR ONE Hot Wheels set features the first "Sweet 16" cars as well as all of the great track and racing accessories needed to turn your room into Drag Race Central. I love a toy catalog like this that reproduces the product with painted illustrations instead of the usual photos, and apparently this catalog is quite rare as I've seen it for sale online for nearly $100.00 (extra special thanks to the guy at the Great STL Paper Show last month who sold this one to me for $3.00!)
